Deep tissue massage classically refers to work on the deeper layers of muscle and is usually utilized for people who have some type of acute or chronic pain. However, massage therapy can also be a deep emotional experience, as memories are deeply entwined within our muscle and body systems.
At the healing wilderness, deep tissue massage is not limited to the perspective of just the treatment of the deeper muscles. I see it as treating the whole body, affecting the deeper emotional levels profoundly as the body is our thoughts, feeling and emotions. Everything from the mind is reflected and affects the body, and vice versa.
Two things happen when you experience Deep Tissue massage at our clinic. The first and the most obvious, is that muscle aches and pains can be eased and released. The second less obvious, is that the emotional stress patterns that are in every cell of our body are given a door to ease out of our systems. This is why we feel so deeply relaxed after a 60-minute massage. This relaxation is a result of the interruption of the pain stress pattern, which then allows us to get some of the much needed calm and rest that our body cries out for- both physically and emotionally.

CranioSacral therapy is an immensely deep and gentle process using no more than 3-5 grams of pressure on a fully clothed body. It works in harmony with rhythmic exchange of cerebral spinal fluid between the Cranium and the Spinal column. This system is intimately connected to the entire well being of the system. The gentle techniques designed by Dr. John E. Upledger help to rebalance our system, to release trauma and bring back health and vitality.
